چکیده

This is a summary of the author’s PhD thesis, defended on 8 October 2007 at the University of Luxembourg and the Faculté Polytechnique de Mons, under the joint supervision of Raymond Bisdorff and Marc Pirlot. The thesis is written in English and is available from the author upon request. The work is situated in the field of Multiple Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA). It mostly deals with what we call progressive methods, i.e., iterative procedures presenting partial conclusions to the decision maker (DM) that can be refined at further steps of the analysis. Such progressive methods have been studied in the context of Multiattribute Value Theory (MAVT) and outranking methods.

Evaluation of recommender systems: A multi-criteria decision making approach

The evaluation and selection of recommender systems is a difficult decision making process. This difficulty is partially due to the large diversity of published evaluation criteria in addition to lack of standardized methods of evaluation. As such, a systematic methodology is needed that explicitly considers multiple, possibly conflicting metrics and assists decision makers to evaluate and find...

Extensions of ELECTRE-I and TOPSIS methods for group decision-making under complex Pythagorean fuzzy environment

Multi-criteria group decision-making is a process in which decision makers assess the performance of alternatives on the basis of conflicting criteria to opt the most worthy alternative as solution. TOPSIS and ELECTRE are effective and commonly used methods to solve multiple criteria decision-making problems. The aim of this study is to propose two new models, namely, complex Pythagorean fuzzy ...

Ranking Passive Seismic Control Systems by Their Effectiveness in Reducing Responses of High-Rise Buildings with Concrete Shear Walls Using Multiple-Criteria Decision Making

In recent decades, the dual systems of steel moment-resisting frames and RC shear walls have found extensive application as lateral load-resisting systems for high-rise structures in seismically active areas. This paper investigated the effectiveness of tuned mass damper (TMD), viscous damper, friction damper, and the lead-core rubber bearing in controlling the damage and seismic response of hi...

Analysis of vegetation-based management scenarios using MCDM in the Ramian watershed, Golestan, Iran

This research has concentrated on the physical and socio-economic impacts of vegetation-based management scenarios targeting on flooding and soil erosion issues in the Ramian watersheds. The Ramian watershed with an approximate area of 24000 ha is located in Golestan, Iran. For each sub-watershed, four biological actions (activities) and 16 management scenarios have been considered. Physical im...
